Monika was a presenter during the 2017 CMS National Training Workshops event in Anaheim, CA, where health care and social services program administrators and advocates from across the nation attended. She ha participated in the Golden Future 50+ Expo Series for three years now. While Monika provides California's Coordinated Care Initiative (CCI) and Cal MediConnect health policy communications and outreach, she is most enthusiastic about how the program information will ultimately help people in need coordinate their health care benefits and services. She will discuss the benefits of care coordination, health plan options and helpful resources. Monika has a background in social services management, public health programs and policy, political organizing, and community empowerment.

Staci Yamashita-iida, Esq.
Ms. Yamashita-Iida is a lifelong native of the South Bay. After attending North Torrance High School, she graduated from Loyola Marymount University magna cum laude as a Valedictorian Finalist and Leadership Scholar. From there, she received her Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School's 2-year accelerated SCALE Program and wrote for the Journal of International Law Honors program. Ms. Yamashita-Iida is an active member of the Japanese American Bar Association and is currently serving as a Kizuna fellow on the Board of Directors for the Go For Broke National Educational Center. In addition, she regularly contributes articles to the JACL's Pacific Citizen newspaper. Here at Elder Law Services, Ms. Yamashita-Iida is the head of the Estate Planning Department, where she handles the creation of Revocable Living Trusts, Irrevocable Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, and other ancillary documents. She also concentrates on the qualification and application for long-term care Medi-Cal benefits. When she's not working, Ms. Yamashita-Iida enjoys going to Mammoth with her fiancé and their two German Shepherds to hike, ski, and fish. She is also an avid hula dancer who performed and competed all around the world for 20+ years. She is an annual competitor at the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival in Hilo, Hawai'i and has most notably performed at the Hollywood Bowl and Osaka-jō Hall in Japan.

Essie Landry started working for the Social Security Administration (SSA), a few short months after she retired from the United States Army. She served in the military for over 21 years. She is the Public Affairs Specialist for Social Security’s Tri Counties Area. She has worked for SSA for over 15 years. Prior to her current assignment, Essie was an Automation Training Specialist, a Technical Expert, and a Social Insurance Specialist. Essie is a recipient of two Social Security Commissioner’s Citations in recognition of her outstanding service to the American public. This is the Agency’s highest honorary which is granted to individual employees who have made a superior contribution to Social Security. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources from Park University and a Masters of Arts Degree in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University.
